Inside Their Stories

It was really simple. Kandice was invited to Campus Life through a friend who has been attending our programs since middle school. She would go get her lunch in the cafeteria then join us for Club in the orchestra room of the Freshman Learning Center.

Kandice was raised without a father and struggled to find a place in the world. She was brought to church a little when she was younger by a woman who lives down the street from her. However, outside of that she had no real knowledge of Christianity or Jesus. As she attended Campus Life she heard a message of hope and love. She learned that God created her and He delights in her.

Kandice signed up for our winter retreat and learned even more about who God is and what it looks like to surrender to Him. For the first time she was surrounded by a Christian community. When the opportunity came during our cabin time to choose to be a follower of Jesus she said yes! We prayed with Kandice, helping her repent of her sins and ask Christ to come into her heart and be Lord of her life.

Honestly it really didn’t take much for Kandice to say yes. We walked with Kandice for only a semester; learning her story and showing her the way of Jesus. She committed to follow Jesus because she gained understanding about Him and his love for her.

Here’s the thing… there are hundreds of 11-19 year olds out there who are just like her! They don’t know the good news. They don’t understand who Jesus is or His love for them. As followers aren’t we blessed to have had our eyes open to His goodness and love.?! Help us fulfill our obligation to reach other kids like Kandice.
